From Classy to crazy in a mouthful
Classy |
We’ll start with classy. You are wonderfully spoilt for choice when it comes to wine and coffee across the city. I certainly indulged in too much of both. My favourite wine in the world is Concha y Toro’s, Sauvignon blanc; which gutted me at first as I struggle to pronounce it. But over time I have endured to better pronounce it each time I ask for it and practice makes perfect. Classy to crazy in a mouthful, Santiago Chile food and drink blog
The outskirts of Santiago are indeed home to the Concha Y Toro vineyards, naturally, wild horses couldn’t hold me back. We enjoyed a gorgeous afternoon of meandering though the vineyards, wine tasting and even splashed out on a cheese plate. Yes, I know, this doesn’t sound like budget travel, BUT, we still did it for half the price of all other options, don’t believe me? Check out our page on how to do it yourself >>>

Santiago is a perfect place to try a stand up coffee bar; literally a bar where the only option is to stand up as you drink. It is also ideal for splashing out food perfection; the style and service of the bars and restaurants across Plaza de Armas is serene. You pay around half to two thirds of the price of European city centres, but get all the quality and class you could hope for.
Crazy |
By day and night, Santiago bursts into life with an array of crazy cool street food, that will have you trying things you wouldn’t expect to. You will pay around .500 – 3.000 CLP (50p – 3 GBP / 1 – 5 USD ) to pick up something tasty and filling from the street venders.

Part of enjoying your food here, is wondering around the square soaking up the bright and beautiful culture.

Guacamole Hotdogs ???
Not usually the biggest fan of hotdogs, I was dubious to say the least. Alas, Pete’s passion for all things food persuaded me and I placed the order. Not a mistake! Yes, essentially it is still a hotdog, but after lashing of salsa and piles of guacamole it somehow seems tasty and exotic enough to feel like you can justify it cultural experience.
