We heard rumours that you should NOT put “unemployed” in your employment section of the application form. If you are a student or you are on a gap year we would recommend you to put something like “full time study” or “preparing for full time study.”

Top tip: You will need to provide an address for your stay in Myanmar. If you are travelling from place to place they advise you to put the address of your first place to stay. If you plan to stay at the border town of Myawaddy you could stay at:

Ever Green Motel, Ban Du La street, Myawaddy, Myanmar

Alternatively you could travel 5-6 hours to Hpa An for your first night. Getting a visa and crossing overland from Thailand to Myanmar Burma

Myanmar is changing rapidly, so up-to-date blogs (like this one, ahem!) will be a great source.  But If it’s you’re first time visiting Myanmar you will probably want to grab a travel guide too. I always think you don’t need more than a ‘Rough Guide‘ as it is about making it your own adventure! They have a pretty cheap kindle copy as well as the actual book.
